Our Vision

To tackle youth homelessness by providing young people with accommodation, support and opportunities for them to develop self-respect and achieve independence for a positive future.

What We Do

Safe and Sound Homes supports young people in North Yorkshire who are homeless, or potentially homeless, by providing a safe place to live. We do this by offering accommodation and support for one night up to 18 months. All accommodation is in the home of fully trained and vetted volunteers, our ‘hosts’.

Short term accommodation is arranged for a young person if a personal or family crisis results in them having no home to go to. This enables all parties to explore more sustainable options, which might be a return home once mediation work with the family or carer has been undertaken.

Where returning home is not an option and if the young person meets the required criteria, Supported Lodgings accommodation may be offered. The young person is placed with a host who works with us and other agencies, such as colleges and local authorities, to act as a positive role model and provide a level of support determined by individual needs. Safe and Sound Homes aims to enable the young person to develop aspirations, responsibility, a sense of self-worth and the practical skills necessary to move on and live independently.

Safe and Sound Homes is affiliated to Depaul Nightstop UK.
